What is the AVTRW?
AVTRW is an organisation composed of those engaged primarily in veterinary teaching or in related research fields. It aims to further the interests of its members through:-
- The organisation of scientific meetings for members. These are both smaller regional meetings and a large annual conference.
- Political lobbying activities within the veterinary and academic arenas. Representing it’s members on relevant committees.
The organisation is managed by a national committee consisting of a President, Junior and Senior Vice Presidents, Secretary and a Treasurer. These posts are elected annually at the organisations AGM which is held during the conference. The committee is supported by a council which consists of co-opted members representing all of the major veterinary research, teaching and governmental organisations. AVTRW is affiliated with the British Veterinary Association.
Scotland and Ireland also have regional committees that organise local events.
